InformationNorthCoast operates from Easter to early October from the harbour at John o'Groats, Caithness. We run seven days a week, from 1000 until about one and a half hours before sunset, subject to prevailing weather. Sunset in June is at 2230!! Outside our full-time season, we are happy to run trips by arrangement, subject to weather. Our 11 metre jet-drive rigid-hulled inflatable boat, the 'NorthCoast Explorer' is fully approved to the MCA Yellow Book Code of Practice and can carry up to 12 passengers. Wildlife trips last about one and a quarter hours and we depart every two hours. RIB Adventure trips depend on tide and weather and times vary from day to day. Details are posted at our premises at John o'Groats or can be had by telephoning, faxing or e-mailing us. There is less wildlife around in the early and late season, but the coastal scenery is always spectacular, while the RIB adventure trips are fun at any time of the year. Our operating licence allows us to take passengers much further afield than our normal daily trips - Orkney, Pentland Skerries, Dunnet Head, Scrabster, Wick and points between can all be catered for and we are happy to undertake charter work. Full waterproof/windproof clothing (calf-length smock with a hood) is supplied to all passengers. Lifejackets are supplied and must be worn at all times when on board - this is for your safety. Please wear warm outdoor clothing - it is always chilly out at sea, even on sunny days (we have a stock of hats, waterproof gloves and sweaters which you can borrow). Stout/waterproof footwear is recommended. Expect to get splashed during the RIB Adventure - it's part of the fun!! Full refunds will be given for any trips which have to be cancelled, or tickets may be transferred to future trips. We have secure premises where backpacks, personal effects, bikes, etc can be left for the duration of your trip. How to get to John o'GroatsBy Road:-From Inverness, take the A9 north .
